NEWSLETTER No 2 dated 6 March 2017
Hello fellow members and welcome to all those new members who have joined since our first newsletter. Here is a short update on what has been occurring.
Membership has exceeded our expectations and passed the 100 mark. Whilst an outing with 100 or so members is not envisaged, (there are limitations on transport and accommodation resources) we will endeavour to offer outings which will appeal to broad spectrum of members requirements. We would also welcome suggested venues for consideration. There is and will remain a first in best dressed policy on all our outings if limitations are imposed.
We have been successful in our Club Grants bid and will now be able to defray some cost for outings and thus make them more attractive and affordable to many of our members. In this regard we thank Chatswood RSL Club for their generous considerations.
COCKATOO RUN TRAIN TRIP
Unfortunately this outing planned for the 19 March 2017 has been cancelled. The operator has been unable to secure rolling stock (carriages) for this trip. We will keep it on our agenda for a possible future outing.
SPIRIT OF ANZAC EXHIBITION – DARLING HARBOUR
We have obtained a group booking for 20 people to visit this exhibition on Wednesday 19 April 2017. There are a couple of places left but you will need to be quick. Our entry time is 1pm on the Wednesday and all who are going should ensure that that they are there by 12.50 pm for the group entry. We are using public transport to get there.

We will be travelling by train to Lithgow and then bus to Mudgee where we will stay at the Soldiers Motel (3 nights cost $390 per room twin share or double). All other costs apart from meals and refreshments will be covered by the Social & Recreation Club. This trip is now fully booked.

This 5 day package tour to South Australia, includes a 2 night stay at the Adelaide Hilton ( dinners and breakfast), an Adelaide sight-seeing tour, a 2 day Murray River cruise aboard the Proud Mary (all meals included), and a Barossa Valley Wine Tasting Day Tour. Total Price: $2190 Twin Share ($2995 per single)
To give our members a better appreciation of what is included we have arranged for a presentation to be given by the tour operator at 1pm on Monday 10 April 2017 in the club’s auditorium.
Your committee have tentatively put on hold 10 cabins for the Proud Mary Cruise. These however can only be secured if a $300 deposit is lodged at the time of the presentation on Monday 10 April . This will also ensure a $100 discount. Additionally with our Club Grants bid being approved we will be able to further defray costs substantially.
From all reports this is a first class tour which should not be missed. Hoping to see you there on the 10 April.
